3 Days From Marrakech desert tour to Merzouga

This tour of 3 days from  Marrakech to Sahara desert.  Although it is only 3 days long it covers many amazing sites and great experiences. Best places to visit are : High Atlas mountains, Kasba Ait Ben Haddou ( UNESCO world heritage site ), Ouarzazate, Route of Thousand Kasbah,  Dades Gorge, Toudra Gorges and  the high sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Merzouga is a small town out on the edge of the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi.  It is only 20 km away from Algerian border where the paved road ends and the real Sahara Desert sand dunes begin.  Merzouga desert is the most common destination in Morocco for Camel treks and desert camps.

Itinerary:

Day One: MARRAKESH – AIT BENHADDOU – DADES GORGE 

This thrilling and wonderful journey will be on a modern and air-conditioned minibus, by which we will travel the half east of Morocco.

At 7.15 am, you will be picked up by our well experienced guide towards the journey’s starting point. There, the tour will immediately begin, travelling over the Atlass Mountains heading towards Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou.

Once you are at Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou which is a place of wonder, with all its colours, architecture, and its people, you will experience how it feels to live among old tribes. At the Kasbah, you will have your lunch, then you will move to the next station which is Oarzazat.

Oarzazat is a well-known city, and people often like to call it ‘The Gate of the Dessert’. In addition to this, the structure and the buildings of the city attract directors to film their movies in the city; therefore numerous films have been filmed in Oarzazat such as: Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia, tea of sahara, and so on. You will stop there to take a small break at a café, and later on, continue to the Dades valleys where you will rest in a hotel and enjoy Moroccan dinner.

Day Two: DADES GORGE – TOUDRA GORGE – MERZOUGA 

The next morning you will leave the hotel to Todra Gorge, immediately after you have had you’re a delicious breakfast in the guesthouse. Then as soon as you arrive to Todra Gorge, you will be surprised by a luring wonderful place which is constructed from a series of Limestone River canyons. There, you will have your lunch and head to Merzooga.

Merzouga is a pretty small village in the middle of Sahara. Once you are there you will cross the Dunes of Erg Chebbi on camels and end up at an Amazigh desert camp where you will spend the night and enjoy one of the special dishes of Morocco, then in the next day after having your breakfast, you will start your journey back to Marrakesh.

Day Three: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKESH 

On camels, you will ride back to Merzouga and from there to Draa Valley then to Rissani. On your way you will have the chance to enjoy and take pictures of the attractive and charming views of the Moroccan architectures, gateways and temples.

Our final leg of this tour sees us moving through Nqob then Tamnougalt before the familiar city of Ouarzazate once more. Lunch can be taken at any café before we head back through the Atlas Mountains and back into Marrakech for our journey’s end. Arrival in Marrakech is expected around 8 p.m.
