8 Days Ski Tour in High Atlas Morocco

The best 8 days ski touring in High Atlas Mountains are one of the most exotic ski touring destinations, and skiing in this country that evokes more desert and beaches is an experience that will not leave you indifferent. Toubkal, the highest point of North Africa to 4167 m is surrounded by high mountains forming a barrier, 70 km south of Marrakech. This, as well as the altitude and the collection of valleys allow a constant snow during the winter. During this skiing tour in Morocco, we will stay in shelters or Berbers houses, and each step will bring us to the discovery of a new valley, and unusual and beautiful landscapes. 

Day One: Arrival in Marrakesh 

You will be met at the airport and transferred to Riad / Hotel  in the center of city.  Once you have settled in, you have the time to experience the famous Djemaa el Fna square where you can see entertainers performing, a myriad of food stalls all lit up with the smells to accompany them and the general melee of activity. Dinner & Overnight stay in the accommodations Riad / Hotel.

Day Two:  Marrakesh – Imlil (1700m) – Refuge Toubkal (3207m) 

After breakfast transfer to Imlil village the starting point of your ski tour, a steady climb takes you to the refuge of Toubkal  installation, dinner and overnight in the refuge

Day Three: Refuge Toubkal (3207m)  – Toubkal  Summit (4167m) –  Refuge Toubkal (3207m)

After Breakfast, we go for a day of good and challenging climbing, up to Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa where you will have a magnificent scenery on the top, then the descent down by skiing and return to Toubkal refuge where we spend another night.

Day Four: Refuge Toubkal (3207m)  – Ouankrim Summit (4089M) – Refuge Toubkal (3207m)

After breakfast, we put on skis and climb with ski or crampons for a ski tour of Ouanoukrim (4,089 m), and Jbel Toubkal and other nearby peaks of about 3,700 to 4,100 m. The area offers both steep couloir skiing and open fields, and we choose our descents as per the group’s wishes and nature’s conditions.  Again we back to refuge for another overnight stay.

Day Five: Refuge Toubkal (3207m)  – Akioud Summit (4045M) – Refuge Toubkal (3207m)

From the refuge ascend the main Mizane valley. After having gained about 125m in height a narrow steep gully appears on the right (30 mins). Ascend this to a wide open basin and continue up the slope, seeing Tizi n’Amrharas n’Iglioua  saddle on the right, situated at the base of the south crest of Monte Afella. We ascend leftwards towards a steep gully (1.45 hrs). Leave the skis at the base of this gully and ascend to the saddle 100m above. Continue
with crampons without great difficulty to the summit,  Descend along the ascent route where
most visitors came up the mountain just to enjoy the snow rather than ski.

Day Six:  Refuge Toubkal (3207m)   – Taddate Pass (3090M) – Bouiguinoussen Summit (4002M) 

After breakfast we have 4 hours of ascents on skis , skis deposit at Taddat pass climb to the summit of Bouiguinoussen with good view , then return to the refuge  for the overnight stay.

Day Seven:  Refuge Toubkal (3207m)   – Akricheton Summit  (4040m) – Marrakesh

After breakfast  we go to Akricheton corridor at 3963 m and ski back to refuge for lunch descend to Sidi Chamarouch (2310m) – an exhilarating, long descent. From here we complete our descent to Imlil where meet our transport to transfer us back to Marrakesh

Day Eight: Transfer back the Airport of Marrakesh 

After breakfast then you have time for shopping or something else in the center of city … then back to your hotel preparing your luggage etc … transfer two hours and half to the airport of Marrakesh we arrive before two hours schedule of your flights.
