8 Days Toubkal Trek The Mt Toubkal Circuit Trek

Consists of 6 days trekking in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, combining beautiful panoramas with the time to explore Berber villages and culture. From the first day of trekking you will be immersed in everyday Berber life watching the locals working in their terraced fields and tending to their animals. This itinerary involves early starts and strenuous trekking days, moving from camp to camp each day but you will be rewarded with many fine photo opportunities, in particular at the summit of Jebel Toubkal 4167m. At the end of the day you will be able to relax in village cafes and enjoy a cup of mint tea or paddle alongside refreshing rivers and the turquoise shores of Lac D’ifni 2295m.

Itinerary:

Day One: ARRIVAL IN MARRAKESH  

You will be met at the airport and transferred to Riad / Hotel  in the center of city.  Once you have settled in, you have the time to experience the famous Djemaa el Fna square where you can see entertainers performing, a myriad of food stalls all lit up with the smells to accompany them and the general melee of activity. Dinner & Overnight stay in the accommodations Riad / Hotel.

Day Two: MARRAKESH – IMLIL (1740m)  – TACHDIRET (2300m)

You will be driven from Marrakech to Imlil where your trekking team will meet you. After introductions and a cup or two of refreshing Berber tea, you will trek up from 1740m to Tizi n’Tamatert at 2280m, about 2½ hours. At the top of the pass, you will be served lunch overlooking the stunning Imnan valley. The walk then continues to Ounskra(2200m), where after 5 hours in all, you will spend the night.

Day Tree: TACHDIRET (2300m)– TIZI N’LIKEMT (3600m) – AZIB N’LIKEMT (2600m)

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will continue to Tizi n’Likmet (3600m) with views of both the Imnan and Aouray valleys. From there it’s on to Azib Likmet where you will camp – there are no guest houses here. Hopefully the sky will be clear during the night so you will be able to stargaze as much as you wish

Day Four: AZIB LIKEMT (2600m)  – AMSSOUZART (1800m)

After breakfast we will go to Aouray valley in order to reach Amsouzart to spend the night in a gîte. There will be an opportunitie to get some rest and to see a Berber villages, coming back in time to drink tea before dinner. Aprox 6 hours walking

Day Five: AMSSOUZART (1800m) – LAC IFNI (2295m)

We walk from Amsouzart to Lake Ifni, which is truly beautiful, in the midst of the rocky mountains and giant rock outcrops. Swimming is fine, though you are not encouraged to go to the middle of the lake as it is very deep. We camp again for the night.Apox 4 hours walking

Day Six: LAC IFNI (2295m) – TIZI OUNOUMS 3600m – TOUBKAL REFUGE (3207m)

Breakfast is followed by a walk to Tizi Ounoms (3600m), descending from there to the Toubkal refuge for the last night. Dinner here will be early so you can go to bed early in preparation for the long day tomorrow. Aprox 6 hours walking

Day Seven: TOUBKAL REFUGE (3207m)– TOUBKAL SUMMIT 4167m – AREMD (1900M)  – MARRAKESH

After an early warm breakfast you will climb to the summit of Toukbal at 4167m. It will be worth it – you will have the spread of both the High Atlas mountains and the Sahara desert in front of you. We go back to the refuge for lunch, then down to the aremd village, from where you will be driven back to Marrakech.

Day Eight: Transfer back the Airport of Marrakesh 

After breakfast then you have time for shopping or something else in the center of city … then back to your hotel preparing your luggage etc … transfer two hours and half to the airport of Marrakesh we arrive before two hours schedule of your flights.
